Jaeho Shim has more than 30 years of experience in architecture profession encompassing a wide range of building types in Korea and Asia. Mr. Shim is the CEO and Principal of J Partners & Architects which was founded in May 2009. After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree from Seoul National University, Mr. Shim had begun his architecture profession in Hyundai E&C where he was working for 15 years on a few large international projects in Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Singapore. Then he was appointed as a Project Manager by the chairman of Dongbu Corporation to look over many of the company’s own projects including Dongbu Finance Center HQ building in Seoul, Prudential Tower in Seoul, and many other large scale projects. Mr. Shim joined Baum Architects in Seoul, Korea in 2001. As a CEO and Principal of the company, he was responsible for variety architectural projects and directing more than 200 design staffs in designing on many commercial, healthcare, residential, educational and mixed-use projects. Also as a Principal in Charge, Mr. Shim has led design team to win competition projects and many design awards, including Ewha Women’s University Campus project in Seoul and the Yurong City Master plan competition in Lijiang, China. Mr. Shim has been co-awarded with Dominique Perrault, 2008 Seoul Metropolitan Architecture Award for 60,000m2 Ewha Women’s University Campus project. Mr. Shim was elected in 2008 as a Councilor of UIA, International Union of Architects, a worldwide architects’ organization from 130 countries for promoting and advocating architects professional practice in the international cross boarder talks. Now, he serves as Vice President of Architects Regional Council of Asia.
Mr. Bae returned to Korea after 12 years of experience in the United States and with this international foundation he is committed for the development of Korean architecture and for the education of future architects. Mr. Bae began and established architecture career at Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates after receiving Master of Architecture at University of Michigan Ann Arbor and undergraduate degree at Hong-Ik University. His work prior to joining J Partners & Architects includes Lotte Jamsil Super Tower completed in 2017. As a job captain, he lead the team of designers and technical consultants to complete a 555-meter-tall, 123 story super high-rise development that house a mix of retail, office, residential, hotel and observation program at the top. Royal Atlantis in Dubai, a new hotel and residential project that is intended to be a centerpiece of hotel development for the coming 2020 Expo. 800-key and 250-aparment 5 star resort complex with over 10 restaurants, villas and various amenities. University of Minnesota Student Service Center, completed in 2011 with the five-story building organized with a bar of classrooms on the east, and a zone of informal student study and meeting spaces on the west side that offers panoramic views of the Mississippi River and downtown Minneapolis skyline. Currently, he is leading the team on Sheraton Busan Haeundae Hotel, a 5 star urban resort hotel expected to be completed in 2020. Mr. Bae is New York State registered architect, certified Leed BD+C, active member of New York Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council and Associate Member of the AIA. He is currently teaching architecture studio at Hong-Ik University as an Adjunct Professor.
